A Canada Work Permit allows foreign nationals to legally work in Canada for a specific employer or open category.

Types of Work Permits

1. Employer-Specific Work Permit 

  • Work for one employer only
  • Requires job offer + LMIA

2. Open Work Permit 

  • Work for any employer
  • No job offer required

👉 Available for:

  • Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP)
  • PGWP holders
  • PR applicants (BOWP)

What is LMIA?

LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment)
👉 A document proving that no Canadian is available for the job

  • Approved by Employment Canada
  • Required for most employer-specific permits

Eligibility Requirements

  • Valid job offer (for employer-specific)
  • Relevant work experience
  • IELTS (sometimes required)
  • Education qualification
  • Proof you will leave after permit expires
